Science and Technology Conference of the University of Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City is held alternately every 2 years. The conference is a place where domestic and international researchers, scientists, managers have the opportunity to exchange, share information, discuss and publish scientific research and experience in different fields, especially the ones that are currently interested in by the government and the whole society such as smart cities, smart technology, Internet of Things, digital transformation and developing a commune Smart Assembly.

The theme of yhe 16th Conference revolved around 2 policies of the Vietnamese government:
- Decision 950 / QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the Project of Sustainable Smart Urban Development in Vietnam for the period of 2018-2025 and a vision to 2030.
- The connection between universities and businesses to meet the need of applying science and technology to solve problems in socio-economic development
The conference consisted of 1 School-level Plenary Session and a series of seminars held at 12 Faculties and key laboratories, along with exhibition activities of the University’s science and technology achievements and products of partners. The conference lasted for 2 months from October 1, 2019, in which the plenary session was held on October 15, 2019 with the theme “Green and Smart Society“. Also within the framework of the conference, the school also signed a cooperation agreement with the People’s Committee of Dong Thap province in the fields of research and sharing potentials of science and technology, technical consulting, and technology locally.

Science and Technology Conference of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology is an annual conference, held every 2 years. This is also an opportunity for domestic and foreign experts to meet, exchange and also contribute to raising the level of young scientists. The conference also facilitates teaching and research staff to exchange with international researchers. From there, it will develop cooperation activities in the field of scientific research of HCMUT. Moreover, the conference will also orient and propose a number of research programs to strengthen research and training capacity; to create and enhance the comprehensive scientific reputation of the university in the region and the world.
